By participating in TC's Convocation and the Breaking New Ground  ceremonies, all participants are giving consent to being photographed, filmed, and recorded. Please note that these recordings may be shared publicly and made available online for viewing after the event.

Disability Affinity Graduation 

Columbia University, Pulitzer Hall

 

RSVPs and nominations are open for awards for the third annual Disability Affinity Graduation, which will be hosted by Columbia Student Disability Network (CSDN) on Sunday, April 27th at 1 PM ET in Pulitzer Hall. Started three years ago by Journalism alumni Leslie Zukor, this event honors and uplifts Columbia's graduating disabled student body. Graduating students will receive disability-affirming stoles, a disabled Columbia alumni will give a keynote address, and awards to outstanding graduating disabled activists will be given. 

 

If you would like to RSVP for the graduation, please fill out this form by March 4th.

 

If you would like to nominate a graduating student or a teacher for an award, please fill out this form by February 24th.

 

Here are the categories for which Columbia affiliates can be nominated:

 

Columbia Disability Advocacy Champion  - For a graduating student who has gone above and beyond in advocating for people with disabilities on campus.

 

Disability Community Connection Champion - For a graduating student who has brought diverse people together to further disability advocacy, on or off-campus (or both).

 

Disability Research Champion - For a graduating student whose research on disability has positive implications for the community.

 

Outstanding Teaching About Disability Award - For a graduate student, professor, or staff member who has made superlative contributions in their classroom or working environment teaching about disability.

 

Self-nominations are welcome. All Columbia students, staff, faculty, and alumni are eligible to nominate people.

ELIGIBILITY

TC's Convocation ceremonies are attended by graduates from October 2024, February 2025, and May 2025.

Please be sure you have completed all requirements by contacting the Office of the Registrar.
