Grads, you are very welcome to bring your child(ren) & grandchild(ren) on stage with you! Please note, children are not permitted to sit with grads in the grad seating areas, they must remain with caregivers on guest seating until the recognition portion of the ceremony:
Here’s how you do it:
For Masters Grads
- STEP I: Grad communicates with their caregiver via text
- STEP II: As the department ahead of yours is getting up to go backstage, the
- grad walks out to the main lobby and meets the child(ren) and caregiver there. Be quick in getting out to the lobby as some departments are small and their line will go very quickly.
- STEP III: Grads take child(ren) on line with them as they wait to cross the stage.
- The caregiver is directed to sit in reserved seats in the orchestra section close to the stage house left.
- STEP IV: Once grads cross the stage, child(ren) is reunited with their caregiver and they return to their original guest seats.
Grad returns to their seat in the grad seating section.
For Doctoral Grads
- STEP I: Grads communicate with their caregiver via text
- STEP II: When the last masters department is on stage, grad texts caregiver and
- ask them to bring kids to the main lobby. You will want them to be quick in getting out to the lobby as some departments are small and their line will go very quickly.
- STEP III: Staff walks caregiver and child(ren) to stage left for handoff to grad. The caregiver walks to the stage right on the floor.
- STEP IV: Once grad cross the stage, child(ren) is reunited with their caregiver and they return to their original guest seats.
